Reopening Update

Most of us are ready to get back to our regular routines, to regain a sense of normalcy. To that end, many of you have been wondering when we will begin worshiping together in-person. That is a great question.

Resuming In-Person Worship Services

We are excited to resume in-person worship services beginning Sunday, June 28. We want to do all we can to ensure the safety of all as we do so. We will continue to live-stream the worship service if you would prefer to continue worshiping from home. In fact, we encourage you to do so until you feel comfortable returning to in-person worship.

Guidelines for Resuming Worship Services

The following are some of the guidelines (recommended by the CDC and others for faith communities) we will be following when we resume in-person worship gatherings.

Staying at Home – If you are feeling ill in any way or if you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, then please stay at home and join us in worship online.

Masks will be required of everyone entering the sanctuary. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you.

Hand Sanitizer will be available at the doors for your use.

Entry and Exit – We will be limiting the number of entry and exit points in the sanctuary. Please use the wheelchair ramp door at the back of the sanctuary. An usher will be available to show you to your seat prior to the service. We will exit the sanctuary in an orderly fashion to maintain social distance.

Sanctuary Seating – We have designated seating areas in the pews so that we are able to maintain a safe social distance while we worship. An usher will help you find a place to sit.

Social Distancing – You are encouraged to observe social distancing. As hard as it may be, please avoid close contact with people you don’t live with, such as shaking hands or hugging.

Music – While we will not have congregation singing for the time being (experts are unsure if singing contributes to the spread of the virus), we will have a variety of musical offerings and opportunities for congregation participation in the worship service.

Bulletins and Hymnals – We will not be distributing worship bulletins or using hymnals, but all the information for the service will be available on the screens in the sanctuary.

Children – We will not be offering nursery at this time. Children will be sitting with their parents. As restrictions ease, we will plan to resume these ministries.

Sunday School – Sunday school will not be offered at this time. We have plans to begin meeting again in the fall.

Offering – Offering plates will not be passed during the service. We will have an offering plate at the door, if you would like to give as you enter or exit the sanctuary. We encourage you to continue giving electronically or by mail.
